Field, pasture, forest,
poppies, tranquil spires. Slaughter
here, lest we forget

My previous post is from a new series of verse I am writing. In the ‘Reflections’ series (1 to 4) I published haiku, but in my latest project I turn to ‘regular’ verse.
Again, I take a biting, critical and existential view of the world. Since I self-published volume 4 of Reflections, the world has seen two cataclysmic political events. First, the Referendum in the UK, which resulted in a bare margin of votes to take the UK out of the European Union, and the election of Trump.
This verse exposes the dark underbelly that was exposed as the result of the Brexit vote in the UK.
Oh! English charm!
And thatch cottages,
Mills by the pond,
The little shoppes,
Or placemats, or
Coasters, or box
Of sweets or chocs;
Oh! Tourists’ hearts soar!
Then the referendum,
Excresion of sputum,
Behind the mask, venom.

My previous post is a verse I wrote in 2015, and in view of the events in the US Senate and the efforts by neo-cons to destroy Obamacare and put millions of people in danger by denying them a basic universal right which exists in all other industrialised nations in the world.
Socialised healthcare has been confused with socialism in a nation that worships money and the rich and successful, and where many of the poor see themselves as impoverished millionaires.
It should be made clear: ‘freedom’ is actually slavery, peonage, serfdom, because the word has been bastardised by American conservatives and their well-funded think-tanks and lobbyists to brainwash ordinary people into supporting laws that only benefit the rich, or the very rich, in fact.

I have been silent as far as this blog is concerned as I have been writing longer poems for what will eventually be a volume of verse – free, tanka, acrostic and reworkings of other great poems.
One source of my ‘inspiration’ has also been the cause of my silence as I daily strive to remain clear-minded, positive and focussed in the face of a sociopath under whose roof I am living through force of circumstance, and there have been times where one is occupied in mentally counteracting the foul invective of the person in question, rather than having a peaceful environment in which to write, to think, reflect.
Unknowingly, said detractor is providing me with a great deal of material, and will doubtless provide a back story to a future novel.

My seminal Facebook page (RC Clermont) is now up and running! It doesn’t replace this blog, naturally. Admittedly it is a plug for my books, available at the Amazon bookshop….
